Last full day at the home. Been there 2 1/2 weeks. Seems longer.
Redjeb's food today looked more acceptable, so maybe my foray into the kitchen yesterday paid off.
But still I do not think he is getting enough nutrition. Hopefully when he gets home we''ll be able to get a decent palatable diet underway.
Which reminds me: People often ask what they can bring him. He's tired of sweet things just now. So much of what they had at the home is sweetened including the protein drinks. So for now I'd say stay away from food stuff at least for the next couple weeks. I am hopeful that his swallowing will improve more since it is already quite a bit better, but we still have a ways to go. Perhaps a good book, such as one having something to do with history, spy or detective novels.
Redjeb faced down the staff who have been pressuring him to have another swallowing test. They seemed teed off that he didn't want them to do so, but I must say he may well be right. He said there is just too much over-testing. In this case what they would do after the test would be no different from what they are doing now. So why bother. He's got a point. But they seem to have taken it personally.
The PT and OT have been busy getting Redjeb all ready for going home--including a fancy walker with a seat. I can see him eventually making his way down Third Avenue to Barnes and Noble with this, and even sooner out for morning coffee.
Friends came by again this afternoon and eve, which was a nice break from the routine of the institution. And Redjeb's daughter is still around (but her mother in law left for Georgia today). Nici will be staying with us till Saturday.
Got to get to bed as need to be at the Home early for check out rituals, whatever they may be.
Okay, Tiger Lady! Sounds like you both are more than ready to get out of that place! I hope it all went smoothly.
