Free at Last, Free at Last....
Redjeb came home today!!! Accident was Monday, July 1 !!!
We are now in our little NYC apartment. I think Redjeb is happy to be home. He has been making himself food all day. Mostly soup, but he also had some solids, but only a little as he has to see what he can tolerate. But he is up and about, doing things in the kitchen and sitting at his computer. A bit slow and balance not too good, but getting around. Still sleeps a lot but now does so on his favorite pink chair (recliner).
Apartment is now quite cluttered as equipment arrived: a raised toilet commode that is quite good, except when installed the bathroom door won't close. Then there is the fancy seat for the shower that we picked out, which hangs over the tub so much that the shower curtain won't go round it: flooding awaits. And of course with that installed, no room in the tub for me to take a bath....but we shall work this all out.
And so at the moment there is a bedside commode and/or raised toilet seat with grab bars sitting in the living/dining room. Anyone in need of one: unused, right out of the box, just let me know. Otherwise I will figure out how to get it to East Hampton and store it in our basement with everything else I should throw out.
So when in the city give a call and come visit. Some time will be taken up by appointments with physical therapists/occupational therapists/ speech therapists, but they probably won't come till after Labor Day. I imagine in 2 or 3 weeks all that will be done too.
Me? Busy but more relaxed. Sitting around here with Redjeb I am eating up a storm. Uh, Oh. Better watch it. Making up for the lack of appetite from all that angst.
