Friday: Back to NYC !!

You folks must be tired of me telling you that I am exhausted, but here I am again.  Today started off with me feeling relieved and exhilarated.  D-Day, i.e.  discharge day for Redjeb.  It took the social worker, Roy, mounds of paper work to get us off:  insurance papers, hospital papers, nursing home papers.  Redjeb was looking forward to getting out of there.  And I was signing us off...god knows what I signed.

The ambulance came about 3 and off we went.  To my surprise the ride was very bumpy.  NY roads are not well maintained.  Also trip was long.  RJ arrived exhausted and remained so throughout the evening.  He has a nice room and everyone is very nice to him.  Since he is new, all kinds of people came to ask him questions, but all he wanted to do was sleep.

Redjeb's daughter turned up at 9 pm, so I was able to leave.  Going to get some shut-eye.

He is at the

Jewish Home Lifecare
120 West 106 St    (between Amsterdam and Columbus)
3rd floor,

I forget the room #

I know folks want to visit and I'm sure he'll be happy to see you.  But don't be disappointed:  he sleeps a lot, but does wake up.  You can always try to rouse him or just wait till he awakes (awakens?).  Remember he doesn't hear well and may not have his hearing aids in.  So speak normally but distinctly close to his ear if he doesn't understand.  Your visit may be short or long, who knows, but I know he'll appreciate seeing friends.

He'll be there a few weeks, I'm sure, so no rush for everyone to visit right away.  His daughter Nicole is in the city from Tbilisi and will be there the next few days.

I'm thinking of taking off Sunday and Monday and going to Stony Brook to pick up my car which I left at the hospital garage.  My friend Dee (who just moved East from Calif, yeah!!) has offered to drive with me.  We will take the car to EH and then come right back, so I can continue being compulsive.

I have been living in AC these past weeks, so missed the hot weather, and now I am appalled at the air (or lack of) in NYC and the humidity.  Wish there had been a good rehab center near East Hampton, but such would have required my driving a good piece and with the summer traffic just wasn't in the cards for me.  And here in the city, he has friends who can visit.

Enough rambling on.  We are at another chapter in this saga.
Take care and thanks for all your emails, etc.  Sorry for not answering but I know you are out there, and as yesterday showed I even call upon people, last minute I'm afraid, but that seems to be how the cookies are crumbling right now.  Things just seem to pop up.

To sleep, perchance to dream...in my own bed.
