Tomorrow we may know exactly which day is discharge day. We are hoping for Thursday but we may have been too late in saying our wishes. There are some administrative things that need to be taken care of before one departs.
I think that Redjeb is getting bored with being there. On the other hand he seems to really enjoy sitting in the pretty garden. Also he's been going into the little library and getting books and using the computer there a bit. Funny how a desktop is more usable than the gadgets. He has his laptop there as well as his new Kindle, but seems to like the big screen of the "real" computer.
As usual the food situation was not good today. I don't know who staffs the kitchen on weekends but I am thinking of making a formal protest at some point. He got diet vegetarian for lunch and dinner. We kind of accepted the lunch but with dinner I complained. Then when they got the replacement dinner it had chicken, which is listed as a no (he doesn't like it) on his standing order. Once the weekdays start the kitchen does a little better. This place has such potential to be a really nice nursing/rehab home. It would not even take much to do.
I do wish they'd fire the chief administrator and the kitchen manager. No questions asked. Just get rid of them and get replacements with good track records. But that probably costs money and we know how all that plays out.
Didn't mention that I sneaked out again last night, actually stopped on my way home and saw the new Woody Allen movie: Blue Jasmine. Good acting. Needed some editing and moral of the story nothing new. But some good laughs. Take this from someone who is NOT a Woody Allen fan; used to be in his earlier life. Since Redjeb can't go to the movies I tell him the stories of the movies later.
If you want to send cards, I suggest you send them to our apartment since don't know when he'll be coming home. If you don't have the address email me, as I don't want to put it online. I can take them to him.
And don't forget us when he gets home, as he'll be housebound for quite a while I'm sure. He gets around fine in there, using a walker. But long distances aren't his thing yet and he tires easily. But what a remarkable progress he has made. And the many of you out there with your fingers crossed: Sorry for the inconvenience but could you keep them crossed a little longer?
It would probably be good for them to hear about the problems with weekend meals, but as for firing anybody in food service, I am probably a bit cynical and I imagine that would only be an invitation to make everything worse. Bide you time, as soon as Redjeb is out you will laugh at all the inconveniences past.
