Friday: Craziness back

Today I was back being crazed again.  See, you thought it was all over and I was relaxed...
Actually I'm exaggerating a bit but it was an exhausting day.

I had an appointment this morning and Redjeb's daughter Nicole stayed with him all day.  I thought I'd have some time to take care of things and rest a bit when I got back, but a speech therapist called to say he was coming over.  He was to come at 3 but ended up coming at 2.  See you never can tell what is going to happen when.  So when you folks out there ask me what is a good time of day to visit, I can never predict.

The therapist asked all kinds of questions about Redjeb's tests at the hospital and the nursing home.  I tried to find info in all my many well-organized files but of course could come up with nothing.  So I placed a call to Stony Brook to one of the social workers we knew (Roy) and I happened to get him on the phone.  It is nice that one is remembered at least a few weeks later.  He was very helpful.  But here I am on the phone with him, the speech therapist is shouting out all kinds of sounds for Redjeb to make to strengthen his throat muscles, the other phone rings, it's a friend (I hang up abruptly and have to apologize and explain later), phone rings again (I am still on hold with Roy on my cell), so Redjeb takes it.  Is the Aetna insurance company.  All this at one time.  But Redjeb is getting much better and can even handle some phone calls, such as this Aetna one, particularly if they are not too taxing.  (Verizon did not pass the "not to taxing" test last eve, and Redjeb hung up on them.)  There are other stressors but I will not bore you with such details.

This eve I took more "time off" since Nici is here, and went to a little family gathering: a birthday party for my nephew Tom (the one who got hit by a car in March while riding his motorcycle).  I am happy to report that he is back at work, commuting from Connecticut, and walking without his cane.  He had a badly smashed leg, but fingers crossed, it is healing well.

Redjeb and Nici are now outside getting some fresh air.  I'm going to start making some efforts towards bed.
